Chamber Music Beginnings offers 3rd–5th grade students an immersive introduction to the world of chamber music. Aligned with the National Core Arts Standards and the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning Music, our program provides a unique opportunity for young learners to explore the world of Chamber Music. The educationally designed concerts cater to the developmental and musical needs of each participant, exposing them to a wide range of repertoire. Through this engaging experience, students deepen their appreciation for music and enhance their understanding of fundamental musical concepts.
Chamber Music Beginnings is structured into three units throughout the year, ensuring a comprehensive learning journey centered on deep analysis of various chamber ensembles.
Program Overview
The program includes a comprehensive teacher resource guide with engaging activities, audio recordings, and worksheets, allowing schools to integrate the curriculum at their own pace while supporting student learning.
Unit One–Fall
In-School Visit: A Chamber Music Society Teaching Artist visits your classroom to introduce key musical concepts and engage students in interactive learning.
Field Trip Concert: Students attend a live chamber music performance at one of the following venues:
Merkin Hall (Manhattan)
Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture (Bronx)
