New York City Ballet: Double Cello Concerto

FOUR CHOREOGRAPHERS SHAPING THE LANDSCAPE OF DANCE TODAY

The ballets of four dancemakers working at the vanguard of the art form come together for an evening of fresh and fierce footwork. The program features world premieres from Toronto-born Jennifer Archibald, a choreographer “revolutionizing ballet,” per BalletX Artistic Director Christine Cox, and Alysa Pires, whose Standard Deviation marked the first company commission for a Canadian woman. Interspersed are Justin Peck’s fleet-footed interpretation of the commedia dell’arte classic Pulcinella Variations with diverting costumes by Tsumori Chisato, and Kyle Abraham’s tender epic Love Letter (on shuffle) from 2022, set to music by James Blake and costumed by designer Giles Deacon.
